Eamonn O'Neill - Journalist Mentor

Eamonn O'NeillEamonn O’Neill is one of Scotland’s most experienced international investigative reporters, having reported for GQ, Esquire, all UK broadsheet newspapers and their attached magazines. He was also the Senior Factual Programmes Producer in charge of development at Scottish Television Enterprises, which was the network arm of STV. He developed, managed and participated in a range of network and international documentary productions including Dispatches investigations, and also productions for the Cutting Edge and True Stories strands.

He has also been involved in a number of BBC projects including an assignment in the USA for the flagship Panorama current affairs series and also a range of productions for BBC Scotland's multi-award winning investigative series Frontline. Since 2003, he has been a regular writer with Glasgow-based newspaper The Herald's award-winning magazine. It was named Supplement of the Year at the 2005 British Press Awards.

Since 2002 he has lectured in journalism at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland . He teaches a range of classes and uses many of his own investigations as case studies for students.

In 2005 he was runner-up in the British Press Awards Feature Writer of the Year category.

Eamonn was also runner-up in the innaugural Paul Foot Award 2005 for investigative journalism, which was sponsored by The Guardian/Private Eye magazine.
