We pride ourselves that our clients will experience the genuine atmosphere of a bustling broadcast news studio, wherever they are in the UK. That’s why we describe our courses as stimulating, realistic and challenging. So come with us now, dear reader, as we take you to a recent studio complex, somewhere in the South East of England.
It is eight a.m. See the Media Mentor trainer enter what he thinks is the studio, to set up for the day’s training course. Imagine his horror as his eye takes in the pile of beer bottles, the mountain of cigarette butts, three cameras which have obviously never been used for broadcast television, a tinselly backdrop behind a podium bedecked with cushions, and what can only be described as a marital aid carelessly left in full view.
Our trainer considered phoning the client and faking a heart attack in the middle of the call. Then, a miracle occurred. Or rather, as he staggered, shellshocked into the street he bumped into the studio manager, emerging from a different door. And was told he’d accidentally strayed into a part of the building never usually accessible by the public.
When he was shown the main studio, complete with cutting-edge news set, he almost wept with relief.
