It’s Not Terry’s, It’s Mine!!

Posted on 3 February 2010 by peter in Latest Media Training News

When journalists wave chequebooks around, anything is possible. John Terry would be just another testosterone-fuelled zip-challenged booter if it weren’t for one thing – the World Cup.

Suddenly, the entire self-respect of a nation hangs on the actions of one man. No, not Terry. Max Clifford. Strange how when nobody can make sense of a confused situation Max is always there to steer the media and the actual people involved through it all.

It will work out as Max wants it to. Only he could persuade everyone that his client, Vanessa Perroncel is the only innocent party in all of this. “If it had been down to her none of this would ever have got into the public domain” he says. So that’s why bidding for her story is reported to have topped £250,000?

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out…especially with Clifford involved. Although, saying that, Gordon Ramsay’s PR adviser Phil Hall has also been called in to handle the ‘crisis’ but on behalf of Terry.
It just shows that reputation is everything. In recent years Terry (and Tiger Woods before him) has moulded his image on being a ‘family man’ which brings us to lesson number 1: don’t create an image for yourself that you can not maintain.
What he’ll do will be anyone’s guess…but hell hath no fury like English football fans scorned so he’d better think of something fast before the first whistle is blown this summer.

It’s not likely that England will win the world cup…but at least we’ve already got someone to blame before it’s even started!
